SPECIAL EDITION GT40 P/1075 Le Mans Watch - Gulf Blue & Orange
After beating Ferrari two years in a row (1966 and 1967) at Le Mans, the Ford GT40 torch was passed to John Wyer Racing. The Englishmen had a long history with Carroll Shelby dating back to their victory together at Le Mans with Aston Martin in 1959.
Wyer was a firm believer in the small block GT40 and when the 1968 race season rules changed to favor those engines, his time cars won five of the eight championship rounds that year. And at Le Mans, in his blue-and-orange GT40 (chassis P/1075) that crossed the line first.
Wyer and the '68 Le Mans-winning car (chassis P/1075) returned to France in '69, where it faced even tougher opposition including three new 917s. But that same reliable GT40 won Le Mans again. In fact, P/1075 became the most successful of all GT40s, achieving 5 outright victories in 11 races over two seasons and it is the only post WWII car to win Le Mans twice.
This watch celebrates that race winning GT40, with its unique livery. Each dial is individually painted with the famous P/1075 symbolizing the chassis number on every dial. Every element of the timepiece was hand-crafted, making it the ultimate symbol of a champion.
