Peter Brock with Daytona Vinyl Banner
RARE HISTORIC MOMENT This is the first and only time to this day that all 6 Daytonas have ever been in the same place at the same time together.
Carroll Shelby's team built just six Daytona Coupes to win the world's GT Manufacturer's Championship in 1965. What is interesting in this photo, taken at Goodwood in the UK in 2015, is that is shows all six coupes together for the first time! the FIA's racing schedule, during the 1965-'65 racing season on two continents and six countries, USA, France, Belgium, England, Germany and Italy, was so demanding of time and distance that it was never possible for the Shelby team to field more that found Daytona's on a grid at the same time. Always, some Daytona's and engines had to be rebuilt while one race was being run in order for the fresh cars to be ready for the next event. Today these six Daytonas are scattered across the world in residence in some of the world's most famous collections. As of 2023 three remain in American with one each in Japan, Germany, and Argentina. We have to thank wonderful automotive historian and enthusiast, Lord March of Goodwood, for arranging and sponsoring the travel and care of these six amazing racers to his annual Revival back in 2015. It's an exciting and delightful a sight that will probably never again happen. ~ Peter Brock (Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe designer)
(At the time these photos were taken, he was Lord of March, but is now known as the Duke of Richmond).
